Assistant Plant Manager

Our client is the world leader in radiological laundering and protective clothing programs. Due to their continued success an opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Plant Manager to join their team.
As an Assistant Plant Manager you will be responsible, under the direction of the Plant Manager, for supervising the day to day operations of garment laundry, respiratory protection maintenance and servicing, and materials decontamination services.
You will be tasked with overseeing the receipt of radioactive materials, processing laundry and decontamination in addition to scheduling and supervising plant and office staff. You will also strive to optimise operations, using your process knowledge and data capture skills to develop effective management reporting systems, improving the efficiency of the operation, managing budgets and controlling costs.
Your other duties will include:
- Planning production schedules ensuring that plant and equipment are utilised in the most cost effective manner
-Managing the receiving and packing functions, ensuring that items are appropriately received, packaged and processed to the correct standard
- Liaising with technical personnel to ensure that the plant and equipment is maintained and functions at optimum capacity
-Working effectively with new product development and implementation teams to ensure that the company introduces new services within cost, time and quality standards and so achieve a competitive advantage
To be considered for this position, you must have:
- Experience of supervising teams in a production facility
- A degree (or equivalent) in physics, chemistry or another related subject
- A proven successful track record in managing people in an industrial environment
- Knowledge of process design and computerised production reporting systems
- The ability to critically analyse processes and to deliver improvements
Equally as important to your success as an Assistant Plant Manager are your excellent communication skills, your great problem solving skills, and your ability to work to deadlines.
Although not essential, knowledge or experience in any of the following would be beneficial to your application: fluid, electrical, and pneumatic systems, water chemistry, radiation detection instrumentation, remote data acquisition and processing. Experience of working with budgets and controlling costs would also be advantageous.
